KuberGrow Team Another section of land in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) has been provided by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to The National Stock Exchange (NSE) for further expansion of their campus.The move is to further establish BKC as a financial hub of utmost significance and contribute to the economic development of Mumbai.
The MMRDA has granted post-facto approval for leasing out Plot C-82 in G Block to NSE on a 80-year lease for building a new administrative complex. The lease premium for the plot would be Rs 757.90 crore. This follows after the NSE submitted a request in October 2024 for additional space to accommodate its expanding operations, where the firm had requested approximately 4 to 5 lakh square feet of additional space.
The offer letter for the plot was made public to NSE on March 7 after the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and MMRDA Chairman, Eknath Shinde, approved it. According to Shinde, this allotment is part of ongoing efforts to enhance BKC as a potential financial district, supporting Mumbai as a world economic hub.
The fresh plot measures 5,500 square meters and is accompanied by an allowable Floor Space Index (FSI) of 4.00 with a potential built-up area of 22,000 square meters. The NSE also has the choice of taking additional FSI by paying a premium in accordance with the government rules.
MMRDA Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee said that this expansion will increase NSE’s operational capacity and play a major role in BKC’s commercial ecosystem. The new building is likely to establish NSE’s position as a top institution in one of India’s best business districts.
The NSE’s existing headquarters, Exchange Plaza, is also situated in BKC. It was initially allotted to the exchange by the MMRDA in 1993, with special regulatory relaxations.
